The live action remake of Disney’s 1989 classic, The Little Mermaid is set to be released in May next year. The film boasts of a very talented and passionate cast who, from their interviews, all seemed pretty enchanted by the magical world they were made to experience under the sea.
Halle Lynn Bailey will be playing the role of Ariel in the film. Halle is a very talented actress, RnB/Soul singer and songwriter. She auditioned for the role and was casted at the age of 19.
The 22 year old Black American star is also Beyonce’s protegé and one half of the iconic, multiple time Grammy nominated sister duo, Chloe and Halle. She began her music and acting career at a very young age and has starred in many famous movies like the 2012 hit, Let It Shine and Freeform’s Grownish. She also played Nettie in the yet-to-be-released movie, The Colour Purple.
Director Rob Marshall disclosed that Halle Bailey was chosen, not only for her ethereal voice but also her genuine and “rare combination of spirit, heart, youth, innocence and substance.”
Following the release of the official trailer which features Halle swimming around her underwater Kingdom and the magical tune of her voice singing Part of Your World, people are eager more than ever now for the release date to draw nearer.
