Born on March 31, 1971, Ewan Gordon McGregor OBE is a Scottish actor. His honors include the Golden Globe, the Primetime Emmy, and the BAFTA Britannia Humanitarian Award. He was awarded the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in 2013 for his contributions to theater and philanthropy.
McGregor received Golden Globe nominations for Best Actor – Musical or Comedy for both Moulin Rouge! and Salmon Fishing in the Yemen, and won a Golden Globe for Best Actor – Miniseries or Television Film for his dual role as brothers Ray and Emmit Stussy in the third season of the FX anthology series Fargo.
McGregor has also appeared in Guys and Dolls (2005–2007) and Othello (2007–2008) on stage.In 1997, McGregor was voted 36th on Empire magazine’s list of “The Top 100 Movie Stars of All Time.”
He was voted the fourth most important person in British culture in a BBC survey in 2004. McGregor has volunteered for charities and has been a UNICEF UK ambassador since 2004.
