On November 9, 1938, Yvon Chouinard, an American rock climber, philanthropist, environmentalist, and entrepreneur in the outdoor industry, was born. His company, Patagonia, is well-known for emphasizing environmental protection. In addition to being an exceptional surfer, kayaker, and falconer, Chouinard enjoys tenkara fly fishing.
He has written about topics pertaining to climbing, business, and environmentalism. Chouinard was a renowned climber during the “Golden Age of Yosemite Climbing.” He appeared in the historical drama Valley Uprising as one of the key protagonists (2014).
