Who was Yuri Fedotov?
Yury Viktorovich Fedotov (Russian: рииктoрови едотов, born 1947) is a Russian Federation high-ranking diplomat.
After previously serving as the Russian Ambassador to the United Kingdom, he served as executive director of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and director-general of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV) with the title of Under-Secretary-General from 2010 to 2019.
Fedotov earned his bachelor’s degree in international relations from the Moscow State Institute of International Relations in 1971. He has worked at Soviet embassies in Algeria and India and has held other UN foreign service positions.
He was appointed Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation in 2002 and served in that position until 2005.
He served as Russia’s Ambassador to the Court of St. James’s from 2005 to 2010.
