Olympic gold medallist and WNBA star Brittney Griner has been arrested in Russia for drug trafficking.
She was spotted using vape cartridges in her carry-on luggage at a Moscow airport, according to Russian news outlets.
An American basketball player was detained in February at Moscow’s Sheremetyevo airport, according to Russian news agency Interfax.
Why was Brittney Griner Arrested In Russia?
A drug-sniffing dog spotted substances in the baggage, and when the bag was x-rayed, “so-called ‘vapes'” were located.
An independent Russian news site identified Griner as the player.
A request for information from USA Basketball was not promptly responded to. Since February 5, Griner hasn’t posted on Instagram.
