Why is Joe Exotic gay in jail?
This question elicits a variety of answers. As a former private zoo owner, he was convicted of murder and sentenced to life in prison.
In addition to a lengthy criminal history, he had several prior marriages. Self-described as a “gay cowboy with a mullet,” Joe Exotic married four men before being thrown in jail.
The story of Joe Exotic’s incarceration is not an uncommon one. As an animal rights activist, he was sentenced to 17 years in prison after pleading guilty to animal abuse and conspiracy to murder Carole Baskin.
Though he was once outspoken and often promoted his work for animal rights, he has now been arrested and is serving a life sentence.
During his trial, his lawyer said he was devastated by the breakup, and his former partner Dillon was pledged to support him during his prison sentence.
Earlier in 2018, Dillon Passage, Joe Exotic’s ex-husband, introduced him to his new boyfriend, John, and said that he was happy to welcome him home.
Despite the fact that he was still married, he left his wife, Carole, and her children to be with him.
In December 2018, Dillon Passage, Joe’s ex-husband, revealed that the pair had a complicated rivalry.
In April, the judge sentenced him to 22 years in prison for two counts of attempted murder for hire.
Dillon pleaded guilty and was charged with federal animal abuse, and attempted murder for hire. However, in January 2019, a U.S. appeals court found that the sentences were too harsh, and he was released from jail.
