Early Life and Education.
Marr was born in Glasglow, Scotland on the 31st July, 1959. His father Donald Marr was an investment trust manager. He was educated in Scotland. He graduated with a first class honours degree in English at Trinity Hall, Cambridge.

In 1981 Andrew Marr joined The Scotsman as a trainee and Junior business reporter. Three years later he was moved to London where he became a parliamentary correspondent. On meeting political journalist Anthony Bevins he was appointed as a member of the newspaper’s launch staff in 1986.
Few months later he left and joined The Economist, he became a political editor. He returned to The Independent in 1992 as their political editor. Marr worked there until May 1998, he presented a three-part television series shown on BBC Two from 31st January to 2nd February. He is with the New Statesman and serves aa their chief political commentator.

On marr joining the BBC in may 2000 he served as their political editor.
Marr announced that due to the general elections in 2005, he would resign from his position as an editor to spend more time with his family. Nick Robinson succesed him. He presented a series of five hour documentaries titled “Andrew Marr’s history of Modern Britain”.
Marr also presented the Prime Time BBC One series Britain from Above. He announced he is leaving the BBC on 19th November 2021 to join British media company Global in 2022. He is to host a new opinion program on the London Broadcasting Company, his first show there was aired on 7th march 2022.
Andrew Marr’s Personal Life And Awards
Marr married Jackie Ashley, a fellow political journalist in southeast London. They have a son and two daughters. The family currently lives in Primrose Hill in north London after leavingfrom East Sheen.
Marr was named the columnist of the year in 1995 at two separate Awards. He was also awarded the Best Specialist Factual Programme due to his work; History Of Modern Britain. The Staffordshire University awarded him with a honarary doctorate in 2009.
