Senator Trey L. Stewart is a politician and retired lobbyist from Aroostook, Maine. He was born on November 18, 1957. He was a former professional football player who also served in the U.S. House of Representatives. He is currently a member of the United States Senate. In 2017, he was elected to the United States House of Representatives. His term in the Senate ended in 2003.
In 1998, Stewart was elected to the Senate as a Republican from the state of Maine. He is a graduate of the University of New Hampshire and is a former police officer. In 2004, he ran against fellow Democrat and Fort Wayne Mayor Paul Helmke. In 2004, he defeated Libertarian candidate John Lennon. In 2012, he won the Democratic primary and was the first Republican elected to the Senate. In 2012, he ran against Democrat and incumbent Rep. Mike Lee. His opponents were endorsed by both Republicans, and he is now the holder of a second term.
Known for his prickly demeanor and strong opposition to gay marriage, Trey Stewart has been a stalwart of the Republican Party in Maine. He represents Senate District 2, which includes Amity, Bancroft, and Block 4293 of Tract 952900 in the Penobscot River. In his last election, he won a re-election in May by winning the general election.
As a Mormon, Stewart voted against Donald Trump in 2016 and then resigned from politics after three weeks. In the meantime, he served in the 10th congressional district in Olympia, Washington. In 2010, Stewart attempted to run for a fourth term in the U.S. Senate. He lost the election and is currently the lieutenant governor of Washington. In 2018, he won the Senate in a special election. In October, he ran for the Senate again. In 2021, he endorsed President Donald J. Trump for a fifth term.
A self-defense expert, Stewart was an early rising star in the Democratic Party. He was a member of the state legislature for ten years. In his first term, he was a member of the American Conservative Union. As a conservative, he was a frequent critic of the federal government. He has also fought in the US House and is a former trustee of the Southern Baptist Convention.
The primary election result was released on August 22, 2000. As a result of this election, the runner-up candidate was the former congressman, J.C. Watts. His campaign is a resounding success for the GOP, and he has won five terms. On January 6, he is scheduled to face a special session of the Senate.
