Who is Samuel Rappylee Bateman? Cult leader with 20 wives including his own daughter

According to the FBI, Samuel Rappylee Bateman, 46, called himself a ‘prophet’ and drove around his ‘wives’ in a squalid trailer with a bucket for a toilet

A polygamist cult leader reportedly had 20 wives aged as young as nine, married his own daughter and drove them around in a trailer with a bucket for a toilet.

Affidavit details incest, child sex trafficking and orgies involving adults and underage children.

Citing witness statements, FBI Agent Dawn A Martin stated that Bateman “began to proclaim he was a prophet” and told his teenage daughter in 2019 that he wanted to marry her.

Cult leader Jason Bateman was arrested and charged with three counts of child abuse in August. One of his so-called “wives” was just 12 at the time, according to court documents.

The affidavit also noted how Bateman owned two Bentleys, albeit his wives traveled modestly.

The Former member of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (FLDS) David Joseph Bateman has been charged with destroying or attempting to destroy records and tampering with criminal proceedings.

His children have been removed by the state child welfare agency from his home in Colorado City, where the FBI had recently served a search warrant.
