Are you wondering how you can excel on the ” Who Wants to be a Millionaire” show? Kudos to contestant Marie King, who made an appearance on the ITV quiz show over the weekend, has one less secret.
The show, hosted as usual by Jeremy Clarkson, ran out of time halfway through Marie’s quest for that life-changing money (the seventh question, to be exact), contrary to what we’re usually made to believe, which is that she returns from home to participate.
“Right, you know what that means,” said Clarkson in response to the alarm, but without thinking, the quizzer blurted out: “I have to go and get changed…”
We now know, after 24 years of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?, that the performers merely change into various attire to give the impression of time passing.
If you think about it, it’s actually rather obvious.
Amused by King’s accidental giveaway, Clarkson laughed, while she pointed out with her head in her hands: “I’m not supposed to say that, am I?”
“That’s exactly what it means,” grinned the presenter. “You are absolutely right, I will be seeing you in about an hour’s time, but as far as the viewer is concerned you are going home, you’re going to be panicking ‘oh no’ and then I will see you next week.”
Signing off, the Clarkson’s Farm star joked: “Maria will be back next time, it says on the autocue, to see if she can get further than £4,000.”
