Fetuses found at Lauren Handy’s home in Washington, D.C.
On March 30, police officers discovered five fetuses inside Handy’s house.
Officers first went to Handy’s house after receiving a tip about potential bio-hazard material.
Police are currently investigating, and the fetuses are at the medical examiner’s office. There hasn’t been any word on where the fetuses came from.
Why was Lauren Handy arrested?
According to federal prosecutors, Handy is one of nine anti-abortion activists charged with federal civil rights violations after they blocked access to a reproductive health center and streamed it on Facebook.
The charges include violations of the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act, also known as the FACE Act, which prohibits physically obstructing or using the threat of force to intimidate or interfere with someone seeking reproductive health services.
Damage to property at abortion clinics and other reproductive health centers is also prohibited under the law.
It was unclear whether the defendants had attorneys who could comment on the allegations.
