A civil jury concluded yesterday that Judy Huth was sexually assaulted by famed comedian Bill Cosby in 1975 when she was 16 years old. Cosby’s side is describing the decision as an “astonishing victory” in the wake of the judgment.
“Yesterday actor and comedian Bill Cosby was awarded an astonishing victory by jurors in a civil trial brought by Judy Huth,” reads a statement from Cosby’s spokesperson, Andrew Wyatt. “The jurors decided to grant Judy Huth with a $500,000 verdict but voted 9-3 in favor of not rewarding Ms. Huth any punitive damages.”
Who is Judy Huth?
Californian Judy Huth, 64, gained notoriety after accusing Bill Cosby of sexual assault in 2014.
Huth and Cosby, 84, started dating in 1975 when she was 16 years old.
She alleges that during that time the celebrity sexually raped her in a bedroom at the Playboy Mansion in Los Angeles; Cosby continues to deny these charges.
According to court documents provided to The New York Times by his attorneys, “defendant does not deny that he mingled with plaintiff at the Playboy Mansion, as he did with other women and men who attended the club,” adding that the defendant “vehemently denies that plaintiff was underage.”
