Juan Antonio Williams was born on April 10, 1954, in Colón, Panama to his parents Alma Geraldine Williams and Rogelio L. Williams.
Juan Williams’ father Rogelio comes from the West Indies while his mother hails from Panama. When he was only 4 years old, he legally emigrated from Panama to the United States aboard a banana boat alongside his mother and his two siblings.
Juan Williams and his family later settled in Brooklyn, New York. Talking about his educational background, he schooled at Oakwood Friends School located in Poughkeepsie, New York after receiving a scholarship.
During his time at Oakwood, Juan Williams took on many roles and has served as clerk of the student body, editor of the student newspaper, as well as captain of the baseball, cross-country and championship basketball teams.
Furthering his studies, Juan Williams went on to graduate from Oakwood in 1972. He proceeded to Haverford College, where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in philosophy in 1976. He is a registered Democrat and has previously worked as an editorial writer, an op-ed columnist, a White House correspondent, as well as a national correspondent.
