Why did John Dingfelder resign from Tampa City Council?
According to legal documents acquired by the Tampa Bay Times on Saturday, John Dingfelder will leave his Tampa City Council position he has held since 2019 on Monday as part of an agreement to resolve a lawsuit filed against him by a local developer consultant.
The legal agreement, signed Friday by Dingfelder and the consultant, Steve Michelini, was forwarded to the remaining six council members early Saturday morning by City Attorney Gina Grimes.
For months, Dingfelder, 65, had been involved in the dispute. Michelini filed it in October, stating that Dingfelder had violated state public records rules and intimidated him at City Hall following the filing of a public information request.
