Sheriff Darrell Dix said in a news release that Jamie Reynolds, a deputy sheriff for Spalding County, was instantaneously killed when a tree fell on his cruiser while he was traveling east on Georgia Highway 16 just east of Shoal Creek Road.

Dix said in a written statement, “He was a terrific guy who loved his family, had a profound religion, worked hard, and always brought you answers, not problems.

According to Dix, the sheriff’s office will keep helping Reynolds’ family in the future. He promised to provide it.
