Elon Musk has fired Twitter’s deputy general counsel, James Baker, over his role in allegedly censoring information.
“In light of concerns about Baker’s possible role in suppression of information important to the public dialogue, he was exited from Twitter today,” Musk tweeted on Tuesday.
Matt Taibbi, the journalist who uncovered the firing of Twitter’s former deputy general counsel Jim Baker, has revealed that he was vetting the first batch of ‘Twitter Files’ – without knowledge of new management.
New Twitter chief Elon Musk has claimed that these documents display “biased decisions” taken by former management in the organisation that benefited Democrats. Twitter has unblocked the New York Post’s account after initially blocking it citing a potential violation of its “hacked materials” policy.
The tech platform had faced flak from the conservatives over its move to limit the reach of the article.
Former Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey had admitted while testifying before Congress that the tech giant’s response to the story was wrong.
Why was James Baker fired from Twitter?
Shortly after Elon Musk took over Twitter, he began making drastic changes and laying off thousands of employees.
In December 2022, he then let Baker go for his alleged involvement in censoring The New York Post’s story about the Hunter Biden laptop scandal.
“In light of concerns about Baker’s possible role in suppression of information important to the public dialogue, he was exited from Twitter today,” Musk announced in a tweet.
Is James Baker married?
While Baker might have a high-profile career, he often keeps details of his personal life private.
Baker is reportedly married but details on his wife are unclear at this time.
It is also unclear if he has any children
