Canadian journalist David Akin serves as Global News’ main political correspondent at the moment.
Akin’s career began in 1993 as the city hall reporter for The Packet and Times in Orillia, Ontario. Akin began his career as a senior reporter for The Chronicle Journal in Thunder Bay, Ontario, in 1995. He then moved on to The Hamilton Spectator, The National Post, The Globe and Mail, and finally The Chronicle Journal.From 2001 to 2008, Akin worked as a parliamentary correspondent for CTV News before joining Canwest News Service (now known as Postmedia) as a national affairs correspondent. Akin received a Gemini Award for reporting at CTV. He left Canwest on June 10 to become the first correspondent for Sun, according to The Globe and Mail, the brand-new cable news service from Sun Media.
In addition to hosting The Daily Brief and later the hour-long prime time program Battleground, he served as the national bureau chief for Sun Media and the Sun News Network from 2011 to 2015. [3] After the channel was shut down, he worked as a freelance reporter for a short while until joining the Sun chain again as the only member of the chain’s Parliamentary bureau after Postmedia acquired the network.
