Who is Danielle Dauphinais? A mother who allegedly murdered his own son

The mother of a 5-year-old Merrimack boy whose body was discovered last year buried in a Massachusetts park has been charged with first-degree murder.

On Friday, a grand jury indicted Danielle Dauphinais, 35, on one count of first-degree murder for purposefully killing Elijah Lewis and one count of second-degree murder for killing Elijah Lewis recklessly and with great disregard for the value of human life.

She was also accused with three charges of witness tampering.

Attorney General John Formella stated, “Every homicide is difficult.” “When we’re dealing with a small child, it’s even more challenging. As I previously stated, our team has been working diligently on this and will continue to do so as the matter progresses.”

Witness tampering and child endangerment were previously filed against Dauphinais and her boyfriend, Joseph Stapf. On the previous counts, Dauphinais was jailed without bail.

Elijah was last seen on October 14, 2021, and authorities say he had been missing for nearly a month before being reported missing. A cadaver dog from New Hampshire discovered bones in a soil-covered burial at Ames Nowell State Park in Abington, Massachusetts, ten days later.

Days before Elijah’s bones were discovered, Dauphinais and Stapf were detained in New York.

The latest accusations, according to neighbors of Elijah’s mother’s home on Sunset Drive in Merrimack, “start to bring some finality to the matter.” Residents said they want to keep the emphasis on Elijah, and a sign in front of a neighbor’s house begs the public to Google the case.

Bill Roy said he’s moving into Elijah’s old house and is now painting the exterior.

“I’m basically going to help buy it and fix it up,” he explained. “I’m attempting to alleviate the misery.”

According to neighbors, the residence had been rented for a few months while Dauphinais was in prison.
