Caden Isaiah Riley is accused of rape and assault in the first degree.
Authorities said they detained an 18-year-old Maryland male over the weekend in connection with the rape and assault of a 16-year-old girl.
The Montgomery County Department of Police said officers rushed to a home in Rockville at 8:30 p.m. Saturday for a report of a rape that had just happened. The city of Rockville is roughly 17 miles north of Washington, D.C.
Officers learned that the 16-year-old victim was assaulted by a male suspect riding a bicycle on the pedestrian bridge near Lakewood Elementary School.
The officers then canvassed the area and located the suspect, whom they identified as 18-year-old Caden Isaiah Riley, of Rockville.
Investigators interviewed the victim and executed a search warrant at Riley’s home, where police said they found “items of evidentiary value.”
Following the search of Riley’s residence, officers interviewed him and found more evidence that led them to suspect he was the offender.
Riley is charged with three counts of rape in the first degree and one act of assault in the first degree.
