A suspect has confessed to shooting British journalist Dom Phillips and indigenous expert Bruno Pereira, according to Brazilian police.
Amarildo da Costa de Oliveira, according to Detective Eduardo Fontes, led detectives to a place where human bones had been dug up.
He stated that police would collaborate with Interpol to identify the bodies.
In connection with the crime, two suspects, brothers Amarildo and Oseney da Costa de Oliveira, have been arrested.
Detective Fontes told journalists the “first suspect” -Amarildo-had “recounted in detail the crime that was committed and indicated the place where he buried the bodies”. His brother, however, denies any involvement.
Police plan to make more arrests and the cause for the killings is still being investigated.
On June 5, Mr. Phillips, 57, and Mr. Pereira, 41, disappeared in a remote region of the Amazon rainforest.
