R. Kelly was found guilty on September 14, 2022, in a federal trial in Chicago of sexually assaulting his daughter, then 14 years old, on camera in the 1990s.
During the same time period, the R&B singer was also found guilty of sexual misconduct with additional youngsters.
With this verdict, Kelly has now been found guilty of major federal child sex crimes twice in less than a year.
The Chicago Tribune reports that when US District Judge Harry Lenenweiber sentenced him on February 23, “he still faces between 10 and 90 years in jail.”
R Kelly was previously convicted and given a 30-year prison term on June 29, 2022.
Robert Sylvester Kelly, better known as R Kelly, was charged with all nine counts in September 2021.
The allegations include cross-state sex trafficking, forced labor, kidnapping, child exploitation, and extortion of six alleged victims.
Several of the defendants provided tragic testimony during the trial, claiming that Kelly had tortured them while they were young and subjected them to his perverted and sadistic impulses.
The court heard how he beat, suffocated, and instructed his victims to consume their body fluids while some of them were as young as 14 at the time of the torture.
Gloria Allred, a women’s rights attorney who has defended many of Kelly’s victims, referred to the musician as “the worst sexual predator she has followed in her 47-year legal career” following the jury judgment.
After being cleared of child pornography-related charges in an Illinois trial more than ten years prior, he was found guilty.
Surviving R Kelly, a documentary that looked into his offenses, helped bring him back into the public eye.
Kelly has been detained ever since his bail was turned down in October 2019.
He was sent from the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn to the Chicago Metropolitan Correctional Center before to his trial.
