In May 2022, a staff member of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert tweeted on the show’s official page that new episodes of the show will not be taped until further notice because the host, Stephen Colbert was showing signs of having contracted the corona virus.
Stephen Colbert was placed in mandatory isolation for a week while they awaited the test results. After it was confirmed that Stephen had tested positive for Covid 19, CBS cancelled all tapings for the reality TV show until the host recovered. “Yes, I tested positive for Covid, but basically I’m feeling grateful to be called and boosted. Thank you for the well wishes,” Colbert tweeted.
While the show is on a hiatus due to Colbert’s absence, previous episodes are being rerun during the show’s allocated time slot for viewers’ entertainment. Interviews from over the years will be repeated sequentially for the time being until Colbert’s return.
