Dillon raced in the Camping World Truck Series for the first time in 2011, placing 18th at Kentucky Speedway, in order to prepare for running the full series schedule for Richard Childress Racing in 2012.
He placed third at Texas Motor Speedway in just his second Truck Series appearance. He came in exactly behind his brother Austin, who took first place that evening at Homestead after the race was abandoned due to rain.
