Theodore Robert Bundy (November 24, 1946 – January 24, 1989) was a serial murderer in the United States who abducted, raped, and murdered a number of young women and girls in the 1970s and probably earlier.
He confessed to thirty killings he committed in seven states between 1974 and 1978 after more than a decade of denials. Bundy’s real victim count is unknown, although it is likely far higher.
Bundy was “a cruel sociopath who took delight in another human’s misery and the control he had over his victims, to the point of death and even after,” according to biographer Ann Rule.
Attorney Polly Nelson, a member of his last defense team, agreed with him when he defined himself as “the most cold-hearted son of a bitch you’ll ever meet.” “Ted was the exact embodiment of uncaring wickedness,” she wrote.
