It has become increasingly common these days for K-pop idols to take on English names. This is so that they will identify more with their international audience since English is the most common language in the world and foreigners find it quite challenging mentioning and even spelling most Korean names.
Like many other K-pop groups, Seo Soojin and her then band mates all had to choose and officially disclose their English aliases to their fans.
The popular Korean singer, dancer and former member of the girl group, (G) Idle, Seo Soo-Jin goes by the stage name Soojin and the English name Ivy. The singer disclosed to her fans that the name was chosen a long while back. The Korean idol also goes by the nick name Cherry.
While she didn’t exactly share the reason behind the name choice, fans of Seo “Ivy” Soojin seemed pleased with it, many agreed that it was a perfect choice for her personality.
