Scott Sibley, a BRIT volunteer, has been identified as the first UK casualty in Ukraine, where he was apparently fighting Russian troops.
Former comrades described him as “the bravest guy” they know, and tributes have been offered to the father and British armed forces veteran, 36.
Following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, a second British volunteer went missing in the conflict zone.
“We can confirm that a British national was killed in Ukraine, and we are supporting their family,” a representative for the Foreign, Development and Commonwealth Office said.
The second man, according to the spokesperson: “We are aware of a missing British national in Ukraine and are assisting their family. We’re in desperate need of further information.”
The Foreign Office has not disclosed any additional information about the British nationals.
His loving wife Victoria posted: “We are overwhelmed with everyone’s kind messages and beautiful memories that have been shared with us so far.”

Sibley, who was pictured with the Ukrainian flag on his uniform appears to have been a former member of the Commando Logistic Support Squadron.
They posted on social media: “This week the Sqn has lost a former serving soldier.
“A man that showed Commando spirit until the end. RIP. Scott Sibley”
Friends and family members were heartbroken as they paid tribute to a “wonderful guy inside and out.”
“I’m in full astonishment,” his friend Alex Darwin, who served with him, posted on Facebook.
“It’s been a pleasure to serve beside you, to get to know you, and to witness your caring attitude.
“You were there for me, and for that I am always thankful.
“Inside and out, he’s a stunning young man!” Scott Sibley, please take a step back.”
“Scott Sibley, you were a fantastic friend, and you were hilarious as heck,” another friend said.
“You will undoubtedly be missed by everyone who has ever met you.
“Until the big re-org in the sky, brother,” says the narrator. Soldier, your mission is complete. “RIP, it’s now our stag.”
