CNN correspondent Richard Roth has a net worth of approximately $160 million. The award-winning journalist has worked for CNN since 1980 and is the second longest serving employee of the network. He was a deputy bureau chief in New York in 1981 and served as assistant bureau chief in Chicago and Rome in 1982. In 1985, he covered the terrorist attacks on the Achille Lauro cruise ship and Leonardo DaVinci Airport in Rome. Prior to joining the network, Roth worked as an anchor for AP Radio and WPIX-TV in New York City.

Born in New York City, Roth attended New York University and then worked as a producer and news anchor for WPIX-TV and AP Radio in New York. His love of the film North by Northwest inspired him to visit many of the locations featured in the movie. His career as a journalist led him to work as an anchor for the popular BBC program Inside Out. In 2002, he starred in a movie based on the book Live from Baghdad, starring Hamish Linklater.


He began working for CNN in 1980, the same year the network was founded. He later rose to be the NY Assistant Bureau Chief, Rome Bureau Chief and Chicago Bureau Chief. In 1991, he hosted the special report Murder by Numbers for the network. His work during that time has helped him cover the Gulf War, the Prague revolution, the Berlin Wall’s fall, the Achille Lauro hijacking, the 9-11 attacks at the World Trade Center, and the Iranian nuclear tests.
