Peter Mansbridge Biography
Peter Mansbridge OC (born July 6, 1948) is a retired Canadian news anchor of British descent. He was head correspondent for CBC News and anchor of The National, CBC Television’s flagship evening newscast, from 1988 until 2017.
Additionally, he hosted the CBC News Network program Mansbridge One on One. For his journalistic work, Mansbridge has won numerous honors and distinctions, including an honorary doctorate from Mount Allison University, where he served as chancellor until 2017.
The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation stated on September 5, 2016 that Mansbridge would stand down as chief correspondent and anchor on July 1, 2017, following coverage of Canada’s 150th anniversary celebrations.
