A long-serving state representative, Peter John Daley II, died at the age of 71.
Daley served in Harrisburg from 1983 to 2016, representing the former 49th District, which covered cities in Fayette and Washington Counties.
Peter Daley graduated from the California University of Pennsylvania (previously California State College) with a bachelor’s degree in 1972 and Widener School of Law with a law degree in 1993.
When Daley was younger, he recalled talking to an old family friend about his career goals, telling former Penn State football coach Joe Paterno that he wanted to play football.
When Paterno allegedly told him, “You want to be a lawyer.”
