According to the niece’s family, “Unfortunately, Niece took her own life after a protracted struggle with mental health concerns.” In Houston, Texas, the 31-year-old passed away.
“She was very candid with her fans about her troubles, even wishing to aid followers who struggled,” her family claims. According to reports, a non-profit organization called “Peace from Niece” will be founded in her honor, and the organization will promote mental health awareness and award grants for the study of mental illnesses.
The family of the niece claims that she took pride in the fact that she shot the majority of her images on her own and wrote all of her Instagram postings.
Concerned family members called law enforcement sources last month asking them to check on their niece at her home in the Houston region; this is how they learned of her death, according to the sources.
Fans of Waidhofer — who had amassed 4.2 million followers on Instagram — became concerned when she wiped her account of almost all of her photos … she left only 3 posts. Turns out she did that in the weeks leading up to her death.
Her family adds, “Niece was more than her struggles. She was beautiful and kind, sensitive and funny, creative and talented, generous and compassionate, thoughtful and challenging. While it is so very painful to say goodbye, we take comfort knowing she is reunited with her father, her three grandparents, her Uncle Rusty, and her beloved Puff; and that she is now free to be herself and, finally, at peace.”
