Monica Galetti Husband


Monica Galetti is a New Zealand chef who was born in Samoa. She is the chef proprietor of Mere in London

and a former judge on the BBC competitive cooking show MasterChef: The Professionals. She worked as a senior sous-chef at London’s Le Gavroche.


From 2009 to 2022, she served as a judge on the BBC series MasterChef: The Professionals and has hosted other food-related television shows.

She opened Mere, a new restaurant in London, with her husband David in 2017. Alastair Storey, chairman of Westbury Street Holdings, helped make this happen.


Galetti represents Samoa as a UK Tourism Ambassador. On January 31, 2021, she appeared on the BBC radio show Desert Island Discs.

Galetti was named as one of the judges for the Platinum Pudding in 2022, a competition to create a British pudding to commemorate Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee.

Galetti married David Galetti, the Head Sommelier at Le Gavroche, a French-born sommelier, in 2004. Their daughter was born in 2006.

In 2001, the power couple met while David was working as a Sommelier at Le Gavroche, a Michelin-starred Mayfair restaurant.

“‘Are you alright, you’re dripping [blood] all over the floor?’ I asked, not wanting her to see how much it hurt. Yeah, it’s fine, I said.

I was trembling! I finished the demonstration and said, “Look, I’m sorry, but I’m not taking any questions today.”
