Michelle Justine Lang was a journalist from Canada. Lang was a Calgary Herald reporter who became the first Canadian journalist to die in Afghanistan. Lang was born and raised in Vancouver, British Columbia, and attended Magee Secondary School and Simon Fraser University. Her first reporting job was with the Prince George Free Press. Later, she worked for the Moose Jaw Times Herald and the Regina Leader-Post before moving to Calgary to work as a print journalist for the Calgary Herald.

Lang was on a six-week assignment for the Herald and Canwest News Service in Afghanistan when the armoured military vehicle she was riding in collided with a roadside bomb.
