Michalle Jean PC CC CMM COM CD FRCPSC(hon) is a former Canadian journalist who served as the 27th Governor General of Canada from 2005 to 2010. She is the first black Haitian Canadian to hold this position. From 2015 to 2019, Jean served as the third Secretary-General of the Organisation internationale de la Francophonie. She was the first woman to hold the position, which she held until the end of 2018.
Jean joined Radio-Canada in 1988 as a reporter, filmmaker, and broadcaster, hosting news and affairs shows such as Actuel, Montréal ce soir, Virages, and Le Point; she was the first person of Caribbean descent to appear on Canadian French television news.
