Ealy was born in Washington, D.C, but was raised in Silver Spring, Maryland. Ealy graduated from Springbrook High School and the University of Maryland in College Park, Maryland, with a degree in English. He started to focus more on the entertainment industry in the late 1990s, many years after receiving his university degree. Before accepting roles in big-budget movies, he started out by making a lot of off-Broadway theater appearances.
After leaving off-Broadway, Michael Ealy made his acting debut with roles in “Kissing Jessica Stein” and “Bad Company.” He had a breakthrough in the profession and gained significant reputation after playing Ricky Nash, a sort of repentant criminal, in the 2002 film “Barbershop.”. He plays Slap Jack in the movie “2 Fast 2 Furious” from 2003. After this, his influence in Hollywood rose significantly.
