Matt Carpenter Contract

Matthew Martin Lee Carpenter, born November 26, 1985, is an American Major League Baseball infielder for the New York Yankees (MLB). In 2011, he made his Major League Baseball debut with the St. Louis Cardinals. Carpenter, a left-handed batter and right-handed thrower, stands 6 feet 3 inches (1.91 m) tall and weighs 205 pounds (93 kg).

Carpenter has played first base, second base, and third base a lot since beginning to be a regular in 2013. He was taken by the Cardinals from Texas Christian University in the 13th round of the 2009 MLB Draft (TCU). He broke the school records for games played and at bats while ranking second in hits, doubles, and walks.

He was chosen three times for the second team of the Mountain West Conference. In 2010, he was named the organization’s Player of the Year by the Cardinals. He was chosen for three MLB All-Star Games and became the first second baseman to ever earn the Silver Slugger Award after leading the big leagues in hits, runs scored, and doubles in 2013.

Carpenter, 36, has a deal that pays him $200,000 in the minors and $1 million in the majors. He was a three-time All-Star with the St. Louis Cardinals, and in 21 games with Round Rock of the Triple-A Pacific Coast League, he batted.275 with six home runs and 19 RBI. Carpenter played with the Cardinals over the previous 11 seasons, averaging 262 with 155 home runs and 576 RBIs. In 207 at-bats last season, he hit 169 with three home runs and 21 RBIs. This year, he played first in 19 games, third in one, and designated hitter in two.
