Disney is set to release a live action remake of their 1989 musical animation, The Little Mermaid. With an official teaser trailer released on 9th September already testing the patience of fans, many are curious to know who plays what character in the latest Disney classic.
In the lead role, portraying Ariel is the 22 year old actress, singer, songwriter and one half of the iconic sister duo, Halle Lynn Bailey. Jonah Hauer-King will be playing Prince Eric, the young prince she falls in love with.
American actress Melissa McCarthy will also be playing the role of the sea witch Ursula and our favorite crab Sebastien, will be voiced by Snowpiercer star, Daveed Diggs.
Next, the hilarious comedian and actress, Awkwafina will be voicing Scuttle the seagull. Javier Bardem will be playing King Triton, Ariel’s father and Jacob Tremblay will be voicing Ariel’s loyal fish friend, Flounder.
The producers also revealed that there will be a new character in the movie that wasn’t a part of the original production. This role is going to be played by Broadway star, Noma Dumezweni.
From the interviews so far, it appears that all the characters loved shooting the movie and all we can do now is wait till it’s our turn to love it too.
