Lee Anderson is a British Conservative politician who has represented Ashfield in the House of Commons since 2019.
Before defecting to the Conservative Party and becoming a councillor in Mansfield, he was a Labour councillor in Ashfield.
Anderson grew up in the Nottinghamshire town of Ashfield, where he attended John Davies Primary School and Ashfield School.
Anderson studied Shipping Management at Nottingham Technical College after finishing high school before working as a coal miner.
He was chosen as the Conservative Party’s prospective parliamentary candidate for Ashfield in July 2019.
In the 2019 general election, he was elected as a Conservative MP, succeeding Gloria De Piero, his former boss, who stepped down before the election.
Anderson was elected with a majority of 5,733 votes, with Ashfield Independent Party candidate Jason Zadrozny in second place and Labour in third.
This was the first Conservative victory in the seat since a by-election in 1977.
