He dated a female doctor as his first partner. She had long been a close friend of his. She and he were married for two years. The pair split up in 1994 after that. Following their divorce, he started dating Patricia Stewart.

A very long time—16 years—passed throughout their relationship. They remained together from 1996 till 2012. Despite their breakup, they remain friends and communicate frequently.

After parting ways with Stewart, he began dating Alexandra Datig.

Even more recently, in 2013, the couple became engaged. But in 2015, the pair called off their engagement due to a miscommunication.

Laurence Allen Elder, a self-described “small-l libertarian” talk radio broadcaster, author, politician, and attorney, was born on April 27, 1952.

His show, The Larry Elder Show, is based in California. The program debuted in 1993 as a local program on Los Angeles radio station KABC and remained there until 2008, then returned from 2010 to 2014. Initially through ABC Radio Networks from 2002 to 2007, and subsequently through Salem Media Group since 2015, the program is nationally syndicated.

Through Creators Syndicate, Elder has written nonfiction books as well as a nationally distributed column. Elder ran as a Republican in the unsuccessful 2021 California recall election against Democrat Gavin Newsom, which was his first attempt at public office. Elder finished top among the replacement candidates, and the recall was soundly defeated.

Elder has been characterized to as “far-right,” “right-wing,” “the black face of white supremacy,” and other terms in various places.

Middle child of three brothers, Laurence Allen Elder was born in Los Angeles and raised there in the Pico-Union and South Central neighborhoods.

During World War II, his father Randolph, who was born in Athens, Georgia and passed away in 2011, was a sergeant in the United States Marine Corps. After the war, he relocated from Georgia to California as part of the Second Great Migration.

Around 1962, Randolph Elder founded a coffeehouse in Pico-Union after working as a janitor at Nabisco. [9] After his father passed away in 2011, Larry Elder remembered: “My dad was a tough, forthright man who frequently intimidated my two brothers and myself. But we never questioned his devotion to or affection for his family.” On their father’s behalf, Elder and Kirk accepted a Congressional Gold Medal from U.S. Representative Dana Rohrabacher in 2013.

Viola (née Conley, 1924–2006), the mother of Larry Elder, was born in Toney, Alabama. During World War II, she worked as a clerical assistant for the American Department of War. His mother was a Democrat, and his father was a Republican.

Elder, a Fairfax High School honors student who also took advanced courses, graduated from Crenshaw High School in 1970 and obtained his Bachelor of Arts in political science from Brown University in 1974. Later, in 1977, he received his Juris Doctor from the University of Michigan Law School.
