Kevin Newman is a Canadian journalist and news anchor who was born on June 2, 1959. He was the principal anchor and executive editor of Global National from 2001 to 2010.
He joined CTV National News as a substitute anchor with Lisa LaFlamme in August 2014, and in September 2016, he was designated host and managing editor of the weekly investigative show W5.
Newman was born in the city of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. As the campus station of the University of Western Ontario fully constituted, he began his career in broadcasting at CHRW radio in London, Ontario,
where he became the first news director and worked on Western Mustangs football broadcasts. In 1981, he got his first job as a reporter for Global Ontario after graduation.
He joined CTV as a parliamentary correspondent in 1986, and then CBC Television as a reporter and anchor in 1988, leading Midday from 1992 to 1994. He also worked as a fill-in anchor on The National.
Newman joined CTV National News as a fill-in anchor in late 2014, and in September 2016, she was designated host and managing editor of the weekly investigative show W5.Newman left network television in September 2019 and now runs his own company, Kevin Newman Ideas, which creates TV shows, specials, and documentaries.
