On Saturday, September 3, 2022, Karla J. Giannola, 64, of Benton Harbor passed away at Spectrum Health Lakeland Medical Center, St. Joseph.
Father James Morris will preside over a celebration of life service on Thursday, September 8, at 1 p.m. at Starks & Menchinger Chapel & Cremation Services, 2650 Niles Road, St. Joseph.
On Wednesday, Sept. 7, friends may call at the funeral home from 5-7 p.m. to meet with the family.
Karl and Dorothy (Kraklau) Grinewitzki welcomed Karla into the world on March 2, 1958.
In 1976, she received her high school diploma from Benton Harbor.
Karla wed Joseph Giannola, the love of her life, in Las Vegas on March 29, 1981.
She loved travling, Straight out of high school, she started working for a travel agency. Six years later, she and Joe acquired the agency from the previous owners.
She enjoyed spending time caring to her lovely flower garden, taking family and friends boating on the St. Joseph River, and going up north to Beaver Island, Michigan. Karla was a remarkable woman who will be sincerely missed by everyone who knew her.
Joe, Karla’s devoted husband of 41 years; her four children, Lindsay Giannola, Michelle Giannola, and Tracey (Chris) Giannola-Smith; and her sister, Joyce Vogt; survive her.
Her sister Sandy (John) Russell, parents Karl and Dorothy, and brother-in-law Steve Vogt all predeceased her.
