Even after the decision, the Johnny Depp vs. Amber Heard trial is still the hottest ticket in America, with people selling their wristbands who saw the drama unfold in person.
Johnny Depp vs. Amber Heard trial wristbands Price
TMZ searched over eBay and discovered a slew of sales for used spectator wristbands from the Fairfax County, Virginia courtroom where Johnny and Amber sparred… as well as some sellers asking nearly $4,000 for their laminated paper bracelets.
Here’s some context on the exorbitant prices: one of the used wristbands, dating from day 23 of the trial, costs $850. That’s more than a Coachella wristband!
The date of the trial, May 26, was significant. Amber returned to the witness stand at that point, sobbing and recounting the death threats she claimed she was receiving from Depp supporters.
Most of the vendors are emphasizing the “epic trial” in an attempt to entice a gullible customer, as well as the “piece of history” element.
The wristbands are all in “fair shape,” according to the postings we’ve seen. Prices range from $50 to $4,999.
Some vendors are even attempting to sell wristbands from the overflow area, which is not even in the courthouse. They believe it’s “wonderful memorabilia” that allowed them to observe Johnny and his lawyer Camille Vasquez in action.
Fans waited in hours-long lineups for a chance to receive one of the roughly 100 wristbands given out daily for a seat in the main courtroom, or the 100-150 wristbands for the overflow section, as we previously reported.
Screaming matches broke out in the queues, and there was even a black market for wristbands where individuals offered cash… so seeing these wristbands crop up on eBay isn’t all that surprising.
As you may know, Depp won his defamation lawsuit, and Amber won her defamation countersuit, and her lawyer claims that AH will be unable to pay the $8 million net verdict.
It would take a lot of wristbands to raise that much money, but we’re betting the majority of the sellers are Johnny fans who aren’t interested in contributing to Amber’s cause.
