Chestnut won over Thomas in the Waffle House World Waffle Eating Championship and he placed second to Kobayashi in a Krystal Square Off World Hamburger Eating Championship qualifier, eating 56 Krystal Burgers in eight minutes to his 67.

Chestnut made two new world records in 2008. He ate 241 wings in 30 minutes at the Wing Bowl XVI in Philadelphia in 2008.
