Minimum Requirements

To excel in this role, you must meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Age: At least 21 years old
  • Language Skills: English – advanced level – MANDATORY
  • Bachelor’s degree in education, recreation, or a related field from an accredited university or college, or the international equivalent
  • Three to five years of experience working with large groups of youths aged 6 months to 17 years
  • Experience in school-sponsored youth groups, YMCA, camps, or similar positions preferred
  • Infant and child CPR certification and lifesaving certification from the American Red Cross or a similar certifying organization
  • Working knowledge of computers, internet access, and proficiency in software packages such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

Job Description

As a Youth Staff, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that the young guests aboard Job Cruise Ship have the time of their lives. Your responsibilities will include:

Embarkation Procedures

  • Disseminating information regarding the Adventure Ocean Program and the Youth Evacuation Plan to guests
  • Directing and escorting guests to their staterooms

Youth Activities

  • Organizing and leading age-appropriate activities for youths aged 6 months to 17 years
  • Tailoring activities based on the children’s ages and needs
  • Overseeing various programs such as The Royal Babies (6-18 months) and Royal Tots (18-36 months), The Aquanaut Program (3-5), The Explorer Program (6-8), The Voyager Program (9-11), and The Teens Program (12-17)

Role Model and Safety

  • Acting as a role model for the youths, demonstrating leadership, friendliness, and diplomacy
  • Ensuring the safety and well-being of the children at all times
  • Intervening in conflicts and providing assistance when needed
  • Assisting children with eating, resting, and toileting

Communication and Engagement

  • Maintaining discipline within assigned groups to uphold safety precautions
  • Liaising with parents in a tactful and courteous manner to ensure their comfort
  • Staying updated on current children’s trends and interests

Additional Responsibilities

  • Organizing teen-related activities and performing Disc Jockey duties for teen parties
  • Assisting youths with computer operation and navigation
  • Participating in maintaining a clean working environment and equipment inventory
  • Assisting the Youth Activities Manager in planning and implementing programs
  • Following the detailed safety and security measures of the Youth Evacuation Plan during emergencies
  • Participating in various activities associated with Shore Excursions, Cruise Programs, and the Sports Deck

Qualifications

To qualify for the Youth Staff position, you should meet the following criteria:

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, recreation, or a related field from an accredited university or college, or the international equivalent
  • Three to five years of experience working with large groups of youths aged 6 months to 17 years
  • Experience in school-sponsored youth groups, YMCA, camps, or similar positions preferred
  • Infant and child CPR certification and lifesaving certification from the American Red Cross or a similar certifying organization preferred
  • Ability to mediate, resolve problems, and negotiate resolutions
  • Creative ability in designing activities while managing costs
  • Proficiency in computers, internet access, and software packages like Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
