Jennifer Beals is an American Actress and former adolescent model who made her film breakthrough in the 1980s My Bodyguard.
She archived the NAACP Image Award for Actress and was considered for a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress – Motion Picture Comedy or Musical for her part in Flashdance in 1983.
Beals was born and raised in Chicago, where she discovered her passion for acting while performing in her high school’s Fiddler on the Roof performance.
Beals’ first employment was working at a Baskin Robbins ice cream shop. Beals was 13 years old at the time, but she lied about her age to get the job.
Her father, Alfred Beals, was an African-American, and her mother, Jeanne, was an Irish-American.
Robert and Gregory Beals are Beals’ two brothers. Beals believes that growing up; she felt like an outsider since she was of mixed race.
