Jennifer Beals is an actress and former adolescent model from the United States who made her film debut in the 1980s film My Bodyguard.

For her role in Flashdance in 1983, she won the NAACP Image Award for Actress and was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress – Motion Picture Comedy or Musical.

Beals grew up in Chicago, where she discovered her love for acting while performing in a high school production of Fiddler on the Roof.

Working at a Baskin Robbins ice cream shop was Beals’ first job. Beals was 13 at the time, but she got the job by lying about her age.

Alfred Beals, her father, was African-American, and Jeanne, her mother, was Irish-American.

Beals has two brothers, Robert and Gregory. Because she was mixed racial, Beals feels she felt like an outcast growing up.

Jennifer Beals had a producer boyfriend, Bob Simonds, when Flashdance was released. They anticipated their love to last at the moment, as do many collegiate romances. It did not, unfortunately.

Jennifer has been married twice and has given love countless chances throughout the years. Alexander Rockwell was her first husband.

She married Ken Dixon two years after her divorce and they had a daughter named Ella Dixon (born in 2005). She is the mother of three children, two from her husband’s former marriage and one from her current one.
