Kaia Kanepi is an Estonian professional tennis player who was born on June 10, 1985. She reached her career high of world No. 15 on August 20, 2012, and has won four WTA Tour singles titles.
With 19 wins over seeded competitors in the first week of Grand Slams, she has been dubbed a “resident Grand Slam upset specialist” by The Guardian; only three live players (Victoria Azarenka, Venus Williams, and Serena Williams) have more.
She has also reached the quarterfinals of seven Grand Slam tournaments (French Open in 2008 and 2012, Wimbledon in 2010 and 2013, US Open in 2010 and 2017, and Australian Open in 2022), making her the first Estonian to do so.
