The following is a brief biography of Acosta.

Born in Chicago, Jim Acosta began his career as a journalist at a Washington, DC, radio station. He then worked as a desk assistant for WTTG-TV in Dallas. In 1998, he moved to CNN, and in 2001, he became a reporter for the network. His work as a newscaster has earned him a number of awards, including the Peabody Award, the Emmy, and the Peabody Award for outstanding reporting.

Acosta first began his career as a journalist with WMAL radio, where he worked as a desk assistant for a month. He was later hired by KTVT-TV in Dallas, and in 2000, he was hired by WBBM-TV in Chicago as a reporter. His first book, “Enemy of the People,” chronicled his experiences as a reporter for the White House. In his memoir, Acosta suggests that Americans should watch the way their government treats journalists and consider whether they’d be willing to do the same.

Acosta’s career began in radio. He first worked for a radio station in Washington, D.C., before moving on to television. He went on to work for the Fox affiliate WTTG-TV as a desk assistant. His first major step into television came when he entered college at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia, where he majored in mass communication and political science. Acosta’s success as a reporter led to numerous television appearances and awards.

Acosta’s mother and father are of Irish and Czech descent. He grew up in northern Virginia, where he attended Annandale High School. At the age of sixteen, Acosta joined a student radio station and continued practicing his speech. After graduating from college, he began his career as a reporter for the New York Times. During the next two years, Acosta’s first book, “The Enemy of the People,” was published and quickly became a New York Times bestseller.

Acosta’s family migrated from Cuba. His father was an English teacher and his mother was a registered nurse. Acosta grew up in Annandale, Virginia, and his parents were both from Cuba. His father was a doctor, and his mother was of German descent. While his parents came to the United States in 1991, Acosta moved to Washington in 1994. In the same year, he joined the newsroom at WBIR-TV.
