American serial killer and sex offender Jeffrey Lionel Dahmer, also known as the Milwaukee Cannibal or the Milwaukee Monster, murdered and dismembered seventeen men and boys between 1978 and 1991.
The first of two sons, Dahmer was born on May 21, 1960, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
His parents were Lionel Herbert Dahmer, a chemistry student at Marquette University who would later become a research chemist, and Joyce Annette, a teletype machine instructor.
Joyce Dahmer had Norwegian and Irish ancestry, while Lionel Dahmer was of German and Welsh descent.
According to some sources, Dahmer was neglected as a baby.
However, according to other sources, Dahmer’s parents adored him as a baby and toddler despite the fact that his mother was notorious for being tense, attention-seeking, and argumentative with her husband and their neighbors.
Did Jeffrey Dahmer eat his victims?
His later murders frequently involved cannibalism, necrophilia, and the permanent preservation of body parts, usually the entire or a portion of the skeleton.
Dahmer was found to be legally sane during his trial despite having been diagnosed with borderline personality disorder, schizotypal personality disorder, and a psychotic disorder.
On February 17, 1992, he was given a sentence of fifteen terms of life in prison for the sixteen murders he had committed in Wisconsin and was found guilty of fifteen of them.
Later, for a second murder committed in Ohio in 1978, Dahmer was given a sixteenth life sentence.
