Charles Marion Edwards (born September 13, 1960) is an American politician who has represented the 48th district in the North Carolina Senate since 2016.
Edwards was born in the North Carolina town of Waynesville. He graduated from West Henderson High School in 1978 and went on to Blue Ridge Community College to study business, accounting, and marketing.
Edwards began his career at McDonald’s in 1989 as an operations manager, then as a senior business consultant from 1991 to 1996, and finally as a development coordinator from 1996 to 1998.
Edwards also worked for Henderson County Partners for Economic Progress as vice president. He joined the board of directors of Entegra Financial Corporation in 2013.
Entegra merged with First Citizens Bank in 2020.Following the resignation of Tom Apodaca, Edwards was appointed to the North Carolina Senate in August 2016.
In November 2016, he defeated Democrat Norman Bossert. In 2018 and 2020, he was re-elected.
