Chelsie Whibley, a CBBC star, died after a battle with cystic fibrosis, according to her family.

Chelsie, 29, appeared on shows like Dani’s House and Sadie J before her career was cut short when she was only 20 years old.

Who was Chelsie Whibley?

Chelsie Whibley, from Denmead in Hampshire, rose to prominence on CBBC shows such as Dani’s House and Sadie J.

She has also appeared in pantomimes alongside House of Cards actress Kate Mara.

Chelsie, who was born in 1992, had to put her acting career on hold at the age of 20 due to cystic fibrosis.

How did Chelsie Whibley die?

Chelsie was rushed to Southampton Hospital on Saturday, April 2, 2022, and died at approximately 2.45 p.m.

She had cystic fibrosis, a condition in which mucus accumulates in the lungs and digestive system.

Her lungs were severely scarred and no longer operable, operating at only 25% of their normal capacity.

Chelsie needed to take a cocktail of 60 pills every day to manage her illness.

Because of her inherited disease, she had to receive extensive treatment in her own home during the pandemic.

Chelsie told the Sun at the time, “Every day is so precious to me that spending it under lockdown feels like having it stolen.”

“It feels like even more time is being snatched from me.

“It’s beyond words heartbreaking.”

“I know that seeing my friends and family is too risky, and it could tip my body over the edge.”

“But, on the other hand, I don’t know how much time I have, and it breaks my heart that I won’t be able to see them.”

“I adore them all, and I just want to be with them because I know I don’t have much time left.”

She had been told to isolate herself indefinitely, preventing her from seeing her nieces and nephews.

Was Chelsie Whibley married?

The ex-CBBC star had tied the knot in August 2014 to Glyn Whibley, 33.

He paid tribute to Chelsie, saying: “I’m afraid this is the hardest thing I have ever had to write.

“This morning Chelsie took a rapid turn for the worse and became unresponsive. She was rushed to Southampton General Hospital.

“It is with the deepest regret that I have to inform everyone that our dearest beautiful Chelsie sadly passed away this afternoon at 2.45pm.

“It was very quick and she was not in any pain. I know you will all want to send your condolences but we ask to please limit it to comments below in this very distressing time.

“To my gorgeous inspiration wife we will love you always.”
